EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE


Eviction Prevention - In order to be eligible for money for eviction prevention from most Dane County agencies the following items are generally needed:

1. A "5 Day pay or quit premises" notice from the Landlord or management agent.
2. Proof of employment such as the most recent paycheck receipt
3. A written plan detailing how you plan to get caught up in rent

The following Dane County Wisconsin agencies can provide money to help you. Please keep in mind that each agency's funding is limited each month and you may have to wait in lines or appear more than once. Please call ahead and be patient and polite with the people who are there to help you.  

Porchlight, Inc  - For persons in need of money for eviction prevention assistance, the DIGS Program is located at Hospitality House, 1490 Martin Street in Madison. Hospitality House provides services such as employment and housing counseling, telephone access, transportation assistance, and medical and legal clinics.To make an appointment with the DIGS Coordinator, Mr. Hasan Mohr, at (608) 252-8522 or register in person at Hospitality House on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 am sharp.

DIGS  - About DIGS (Dwelling Intervention Grants & Sustenance) is an eviction prevention program begun in January 2000 to reduce homelessness in Dane County through emergency financial assistance. DIGS is a collaboration of Porchlight with numerous area faith communities and individuals. (Follow each of the links)
